Phone check

Is my phone eSIM compatible?

Most phones from 2019 on support eSIM. Pick yours below, or use the two-second check that works on any phone.

Quick check on any phone: dial *#06#. If you see an EID number, eSIM works.

The two-second check on any phone

  1. Open the Phone appThe one you use for calls, with the keypad.
  2. Dial *#06#No need to press call. A screen with your phone's numbers opens.
  3. Look for “EID”If you see an EID (a long, 32-digit number), your phone supports eSIM. Only IMEI numbers? It doesn't.

Or check in Settings

iPhone
Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular). If you see “Add eSIM”, your iPhone supports eSIM.
Samsung Galaxy
Settings → Connections → SIM manager. If you see “Add eSIM”, it's supported.
Google Pixel and other Android
Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → “+”. If it offers to download a SIM or add an eSIM, it's supported.

Your phone also needs to be unlocked

A phone bought on a contract can be locked to one carrier, and then it only accepts that carrier's SIMs and eSIMs. Most phones bought outright are unlocked. On iPhone, check Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock: it should say “No SIM restrictions”. If your phone is locked, ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel.
