Best eSIM for Turkey: prices, networks and phone rules
Updated 31 October 2026
Turkey is one of the easiest countries to get online in: data is cheap, 4G and 5G cover the cities, the coast and the main roads, and a travel eSIM saves you the queue for a local SIM at the airport. Here's how to choose one.

Each provider's cheapest plan of that size that works here, including their regional plans; no unlimited, daily-limit, subscription or new-customer-only offers. Prices in US dollars as listed on 30 October 2026 (via esimdb.com and the providers' sites). Prices change, so check before you buy.
Check how long each plan lasts as well as the price: a 3-day plan is only cheap if your trip is 3 days.
Which network you'll be on
Our Turkey eSIM uses Türk Telekom and Vodafone, two of the country's three big networks, and your phone switches to whichever signal is stronger. Both have 5G in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya and good 4G along the coast and main roads.
In Cappadocia, on the Lycian Way and in eastern mountain areas, expect signal in towns and on the roads but gaps in valleys and on trails. Download offline maps before you set off.
How much data for Turkey
| Trip | Light: maps, messaging | Average: plus social media | Heavy: video calls, streaming |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long weekend in Istanbul | 1 GB | 3 GB | 5 GB |
| 1 week | 3 GB | 5 GB | 10 GB |
| 2 weeks | 5 GB | 10 GB | 15–30 GB |
Phone registration (IMEI)
Turkey blocks foreign phones that use Turkish networks for more than 120 days without registration. A holiday is well within that, so there's nothing to do. Staying longer? Check the current rules before your 120 days run out.
eSIM or a Turkish SIM?
A local SIM from Turkcell, Vodafone or Türk Telekom gives you a Turkish number, but tourist packages are sold in shops and at the airport with a passport check, and often cost more than locals pay.
A travel eSIM is installed before you fly and works when you land, and your own SIM stays on for calls and bank codes. For most holidays it's the simpler choice.
